Biden Pipe Dream Goes Up in Smoke

Joe Biden thinks he can buy some popularity with eighteen cents off the price per gallon at the pump. The biggest problem is the scheme probably won’t make it through congress. Even if it does, the states aren’t about to ax their needed tax revenue over his mismanagement. He wants them to match his $0.18 with donations of their own and it’s not going to happen.

Biden grasping at straws

Imperial Leader Joe Biden asked Congress on Wednesday, June 22, for legislation suspending “federal gasoline and diesel taxes until the end of September.” If we don’t shave that $0.18 off the per gallon price at the pump, Americans will go under, he declares.

The move, he insists, is “necessary to provide relief to American consumers.” Even he admits it’s not enough. So, he’s begging the state governors to chip in and end the nightmare his green dream turned into.

Even Barry Soetoro once called such meaningless measures “a gimmick.” Probably the only judgment call he ever got right. All the leading economists are wondering if Joe got hold of some cannabis infused ice cream or something. They say the Biden plan “almost certainly won’t make it through Congress, especially as it faces blowback from the President’s own allies on Capitol Hill.

Nancy Pelosi ducked reporters so she wouldn’t have to say how silly she thinks the idea is. “We will see where the consensus lies on a path forward for the [alleged] President’s proposal in the House and the Senate,” she wrote on a note and slipped it out under her door.

Meanwhile, back at the palace, Biden still sees the move as “a way to give some relief to families.” He knows he has to show some progress on something pretty quick, even if it’s only smoke and mirrors that look like progress.

By suspending the 18-cent gas tax, federal gas tax for the next 90 days, we can bring down the price of gas and give families just a little bit of relief,” he declared in his speech. The only ones listening were the crickets.

Won’t fix the problem

Joe Biden knows full well this won’t do much. “I fully understand that a gas tax holiday alone is not going to fix the problem,” he admits. What it will do is “provide families some immediate relief, just a little bit of breathing room as we continue working to bring down prices for the long haul.

At a price of $5.00 per gallon, Joe’s discount deal means you’ll pay $48.20 for ten gallons instead of $50 bucks. Thanks Joe, that helps a lot.

In order to sweeten the deal and make it seem like he’s really helping out families, Biden “also called on states to take steps removing their own taxes on gas and diesel.” Forget it, they were quick to shoot back. Joe also hammered “oil refining companies to increase their capacity.

They have a big meeting this week where they are expected to explain to him, once again, that they’re already producing at capacity now and it’s the liberal anti-oil regulations which prevented any new refineries from being built in recent years.

If all the state governors would get on board, which they won’t, he has a “wish list” of ideas that could “reduce the price per gallon of gas by $1.” Keep dreaming, the experts tell Biden. “That figure relies on a number of steps entirely out of the President’s control.

Even Democrats are screaming bloody murder at the state level, “noting that the tax provides an important source of funding for road construction.
