A Daisy Chain of Opaque Organizations

He’s been quietly lurking in the dark shadows of the Deep State, for decades, quietly funding progressive projects through what the New York Times describes as “a daisy chain of opaque organizations that mask the ultimate recipients of his money.” While the name George Soros is a household word in America, nobody ever heard of Hansjörg Wyss.

A chain of control

Hansjörg Wyss has been living in Wyoming for quite a while and everyone thinks he’s one of us. But he isn’t. He’s Swiss. “It’s no big deal,” he insists when he has to talk about it, which isn’t often. It should be a big deal. Foreigners aren’t allowed to meddle in American politics but he found a way around that.

He stays totally out of politics and funds policy. Let the policy guys fund all the politicians they want. His hands are clean because all he touches are the whip ends of the chain.

Wyss was born in Switzerland and won’t say if he holds citizenship or permanent residency in the United States. He “first visited the United States as an exchange student in 1958, and became enchanted with America’s national parks and public lands.

Part of his chain is a consortium of investors who recently tried to buy a soccer team “from sanctioned Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich.

The Swiss billionaire made a pile in the pharmaceutical industry. Now, they say his “deep pockets and deep ties in Washington” are wrapped around everything. He happened to be a founding member of the Center for American Progress.

You may have heard of it. It’s near the head of his evil daisy chain of interlocking interests. He tells reporters his tentacles “extend all the way to the White House.

Yanking Joe Biden around

It’s crystal clear that Hansjörg Wyss yanks Joe Biden around on the end of his chain.

He spent “hundreds of millions” funding “progressive advocacy groups,” which gives him “the undeniable heft Wyss throws around in the Democratic Party.” Here’s how he quietly controls the left.

Arabella Advisors and a pair of sister funds called the New Venture Fund and the Sixteen Thirty Fund are totally separate from his Wyss Foundation and Berger Action Fund.

Both Wyss and Berger “expressly prohibit their grant recipients from using grant funds to support or oppose political candidates or parties.” They give the money to other people who do, on down the chain. The other three are much spookier.

The Sixteen Thirty Fund has emerged as a dark money behemoth that almost exclusively funds Democratic and progressive groups.” Up and down the chain it’s always the same story. “the organization contributed more than $60 million to super PACs in 2020 that ran ads attacking vulnerable Republicans and that underwrote a get-out-the-vote campaign to unseat then-President Donald Trump.

Guess what. “Money flowed from the Sixteen Thirty Fund, according to Federal Election Commission filings first reported by the Times, to a number of pro-Biden groups, among them the Lincoln Project, a favorite of White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain.
