The ‘Day of The Dolphin’ Has Arrived

In another prime example of life imitating art, the 1973 George C. Scott flick “Day of the Dolphin” has become reality. It turns out the Kremlin has a team of the mammals on the payroll and they deployed their “highly trained ‘spy dolphins‘ to secure its Black Sea naval HQ.

Trained dolphin team moved

Satellite images taken a while back were just released by the U.S. Naval Institute. They show that “dolphin pens were moved to the gates of Sevastopol Harbor, Crimea in the run-up to the invasion of Ukraine.

Since they’re there, the Russians probably have them looking for the two missing nukes which allegedly went down with the Moskva a couple weeks ago.

While they look, they can also provide security because they’re trained for “counter diver” operations.

These particular dolphin soldiers allegedly went through boot camp at the Crimean State Oceanarium, where they learned to “fight off invading divers, carry bombs and even plant mines.

The Crimea had a short taste of freedom after the collapse of the Soviet Union, and that’s when they started training the dolphin team.

Moscow snatched the region back in 2014. When they did, they “claimed the mammals ‘defected‘ to Russia.

Patrolling with the fleet

The Soviet Union has been training dolphin saboteurs and watchmen since the movie hit the screens. Everyone knows they “began training military dolphins in Sevastopol nearly fifty years ago.

Whether they learned to talk to them like they did in the movie or not hasn’t leaked. The aquatic allies are currently patrolling along with the Russian Black Sea fleet.

The Kremlin isn’t packing the kind of missiles which can target Sevastopol, but they easily could send underwater attackers to break into the Russian base there.

Dolphin

The dolphin squad was in place long before the shooting started. Recent spy satellite images indicate that “Russia moved dolphins to the entrance at Sevastopol in late February, days before it launched its full-scale invasion on February 24.

Our dolphin program is based at the Navy base in San Diego. The Marine Mammal Program “was established in 1959 after bottle-nose dolphins were found to be skilled at delivering messages and identifying naval threats.

The first thing they learned was that dolphins have minds of their own. “In 2013, two-thirds of Russia’s military dolphins went absent without leave in the Black Sea – apparently in search of love.
