The hits just keep coming for the Secret Service.
Last week, Kamala Harris’ protection detail got themselves into some trouble.
They actually broke into a local store to use the bathroom without the business owner’s knowledge or permission.
No Way We Did That
Berkshires businesswoman Alicia Powers was outraged when she returned to her shop after the Harris visit.
She had closed her shop that day because the area had been shut down by local police and the Secret Service.
When she returned, her business doors were open and there was tape on her surveillance camera.
Secret Service spokesperson Melissa McKenzie initially denied the incident, stating, “The Secret Service has since communicated with the affected business owner.
“We hold these relationships in the highest regard and our personnel would not enter, or instruct our partners to enter, a business without the owner’s permission.”
However, there was video proof of the agent come up to the camera and taping over the lens. Then someone picked the lock and entered her store so they could use the bathroom during the rally.
Powers later stated that the head of the local office called her to apologize about the incident.
She explained, “He said to me everything that was done was done very wrong.
“They were not supposed to tape my camera without permission.
“They were not supposed to enter the building without permission.”
She then added, “Whoever was visiting, whether it was a celebrity or not, I probably would’ve opened the door and made them coffee and brought in donuts to make it a great afternoon for them.
“But they didn’t even have the audacity to ask for permission. They just helped themselves.”
This is just more evidence of the department’s disfunction under previous leadership, which needs to be cleaned up by new leadership.
