It’s all over but the screaming. Radically liberal BuzzFeed is “gutting” their news division because it’s been hemorrhaging cash. Shareholders are ordering CEO Jonah Peretti to take the news crew off life support and “shut it down entirely.”
BuzzFeed bites the dust
The internet based digital media outlet has been subsidizing it’s radically progressive news crew to the tune of $10 million a year in losses. New World Order globalists aren’t forking over any dark money in return for running BuzzFeed News as a propaganda mill, either.
George Soros has gone into hiding and the Open Societies Foundation seems to be temporarily closed for business while they find new sources of funding.
BuzzFeed is offering “voluntary buyouts” but some of the “top editors” are quietly packing up their pencils and leaving without a fuss. Already in the wind are editor in chief Mark Schoofs and deputy editor in chief Tom Namako.
Administration had no choice, they claim. “Several key shareholders have told founder and CEO Jonah Peretti to shut down the entire news operation.” Ariel Kaminer, the executive editor for investigations, will be gone soon.
Since liberal Americans have no clue how to read a news story, Peretti announced on Tuesday’s earnings call they’re switching the BuzzFeed focus to “vertical video popular on apps like TikTok.” Insiders leak that “things were less cordial” in a private meeting behind the scenes.
In that one, “Peretti took a more realistic approach with what was happening to his news division.” He gave the alleged reporters a piece of his mind and told them what part of his anatomy to kiss, then left them in chaos. “By the time staffers were allowed to ask questions, Peretti had already left the meeting.”
Staffers unleashed
After Peretti got the staff riled up into howling rage, he left their daily handlers to face the BuzzFeed News mob. Leaving “didn’t stop staffers from unleashing on the remaining executives who were in the meeting.” One irate employee whined “This is the exact opposite of the message we got from Mark.” Meaning Mark Schoofs.
“We have been pushed toward longer form, less reactive news for two years.” In other words, the hard-core rabidly liberal propaganda. “Now, I’m hearing the exact opposite. I don’t understand beyond the shareholders not liking news what the real problem is here.” The problem is nobody is buying it. Not ideologically or financially.
The CEO’s escape didn’t go unnoticed. “This is very frustrating, and it’s very rude that Jonah left,” one staffer griped. Another added, “It’s bleeping disrespectful. All of this is really disheartening and hurtful. This is why we have a bleeping union. You can’t just treat people like this.” Yes, BuzzFeed says, they can. One attendee of the meeting hit it right on the head.
“To be told by Jonah – who has now left the meeting, which everyone is obviously really upset about – that he’s not going to subsidize us as if we’re a charity case in this company, is insulting. Morale is such a problem.” It’s not about your feelings, snowflake, it’s all about the Benjamins. If they aren’t coming in the back door from donors grateful for the liberal narrative being spewed, then they need to cut the losses. It’s a matter of economic survival.
BuzzFeed Vice President of News Strategy & Operations Samantha Henig got pushed in front of the microphone to calm the savage staff. It’s a balance she explains, between “journalism” and “making a profit.” Propaganda doesn’t sell. “We’re faced right now with a decision about how to continue to serve our audience, do great journalism that makes the world better, and do it within a business model that lets us cover our costs.” They really miss George Soros.
If they keep a news crew at all it won’t be a division, it will be a desk. They need to “get smaller” and “prioritize the areas of coverage our audience connects with most.” Like squirrels who water ski.
