Deeply Rooted Political Infection Rotting the FBI

After the way FBI Director Christopher Wray has been thumbing his nose at him, along with things his whistleblowers have to say, Iowa Senator Charles Grassley declared there is a “deeply rooted political infection” within the Federal Bureau of Instigation. The bureau, Grassley is convinced, is rotten to the core. More specifically, rotten at the core.

Deeply rooted infection festering

When the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee says that there is a “deeply rooted political infection” within the FBI, America needs to take it seriously. On Wednesday, August 17, Charles Grassley wrote to the FBI’s big cheese, Christopher Wray, to demandan accounting for alleged political bias influencing high-level investigations, particularly out of the FBI’s Washington, D.C. office.

The rank and file bureau agents may be hard working and honest but a large cadre of top officials appear to be completely corrupt.

This isn’t the first poison pen letter Grassley sent off to the Department of Just Us in the recent past. That tells him the infection is spreading.

Starting on May 31, 2022, I’ve written three letters to you regarding political bias that has infected the FBI’s Washington Field Office,” Grassley begins. “Two of those letters provided specific and credible allegations.

Even though “numerous whistleblowers” came forward with “information that one can only conclude is indicative of a deeply rooted political infection that has spread to investigative activity into former President Trump and Hunter Biden,” the bureau won’t give the senate any answers.

Grassley is convinced that “the FBI approved investigative activity into the Trump campaign with questionable predication.” At the very same time, the bureau chose to “shut down investigative activity and sources, which included verified and verifiable information, relating to Hunter Biden.

Eroding public trust

Grassley and other ranking conservatives have been begging the FBI to come up with some sort of justification. Despite their attempts, “he FBI has yet to refute these claims.” That, the senator insists, “is eroding public trust in the FBI.” People are starting to suggest that the only way to cure the infection is disband the FBI and start over from scratch.

Grassley noted that he’s still waiting for answers to the letter he wrote July 18 to Wray and Merrick Garland. The one which stated that FBI whistleblowers “allege a pattern of political bias from high-ranking officials, including Assistant Special Agent in Charge Timothy Thibault.

Agents are supposed to follow guidelines but he ignored them. The “investigation predication into Trump’s campaign regarding 2020 electors was based on news articles.” News articles planted in the media by the FBI.

At the end of the day, “the predication document presented to the attorney general and the FBI director for final sign-off for a full investigation included ‘selective assertions‘ and ‘either removed or watered-down material‘ connected to politically biased sourcing.” The infection goes even deeper.

It seems that Thibault had teamed up with Richard Pilger, who serves in the election crimes branch of DOJ’s Public Integrity Section. The two of them “were at the center of the ongoing investigation into Trump’s campaign.” Grassley has had his eye on Pilger for a long time.

There are signs that Grassley and his allies are planning to kill the infection by taking drastic means. “Grassley is seeking a comprehensive organizational breakdown of the Washington Field Office to see how it is staffed and who is responsible for the units and squads within the office.” The FBI, he reminds, “answers to Congress and the American people.
