The Pooh Bear is sending a signal to Joe Biden that he’s about to go postal. The Chinese military announced a round of “combat readiness” patrols in the sea and airspace around the island of Taiwan. China considers it their territory. Exactly the same way we feel about Puerto Rico. Joe Biden and “Blinky” Antony Blinken think they can get away with arming Taiwan and encouraging “Democracy,” while still giving lip service to China’s authority.
A signal of impending war
Xi Jinping thought he had Joe Biden bought and paid for, through his son Hunter. Joe can’t seem to remember his part of the bargain. Then again, maybe Hunter was too cracked out to remember to tell him. Either way, Xi has been diplomatically reminding Biden that it’s not fair for the U.S. State Department to be meddling in Chinese affairs.
The other day, Blinky took the latest message, wadded it up, doused it in gasoline and lit it on fire. Since he didn’t get the subtle signal, Pooh Bear decided to spell it out in letters even Joe can read.
The People’s Liberation Army’s Eastern Theater Command issued a statement noting the exercises already in progress are “a necessary action against US-Taiwan collusion.” The signal doesn’t get any clearer than that. Just to be sure, the PLA went into explicit detail.
“Recently, the United States has frequently made moves on the Taiwan issue, saying one thing and doing another, instigating support for Taiwan independence forces.” What that means is they think Blinken is playing with explosives.
What Biden and Blinken are doing “will push Taiwan into a dangerous situation.” Wake up and smell the coffee, Joe. The signal was boosted with “incursion by Chinese aircraft” into the Air Defense Identification Zone.
That’s nothing new though. They sent a total of 30 planes since January. The latest incident was noteworthy because they made sure to buzz a visit from U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth, just to let her know that they knew where she was.
China filed a complaint
They say things a little oddly in the diplomatic world. What Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian meant was the Chinese filed a formal complaint about her visit. That isn’t the signal he sent, though.
What he said is Beijing had “lodged solemn representations” with the U.S. about it. “We urge relevant US politicians to earnestly abide by the one-China principle, and immediately stop official exchanges with Taiwan in any form.”
They don’t like the signal that Blinken has been transmitting to Taiwan. They want Joe to make him stop it and stop it now. Immediately, they demand, “stop official exchanges with Taiwan in any form and refrain from sending any wrong signals to the ‘Taiwan independence‘ separatist forces.”
The way China sees it, “One China” means “that Taiwan is simply a province of the mainland and not an independent state.” Like Puerto Rico. Xi could start sending stingers to San Juan, just to see how Joe likes it.
Meanwhile, the message is meant to signal that if they have to, they’ll send the troops in to take charge. “China will continue to take forceful measures to resolutely safeguard China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
Zhu Fenglian, who serves as spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, had a few warnings of his own. It is, he relates, “very dangerous” for Biden to “connive in the separatist activities conducted by Taiwan secessionists.“
