The Minneapolis Police Department announced Monday afternoon that it will be investigating “allegations of voter fraud” following the release of a video by Project Veritas which implicates associates and allies of Democrat Representative Ilhan Omar, including Omar’s campaign manager, Ali Isse Gainey.
James O’Keefe III, the founder of Project Veritas, posted about the scheme on Twitter:

An investigation by journalists at Project Veritas uncovered a possible illegal ballot harvesting and cash-for-ballots scheme in Omar’s district in Minneapolis. “The group, which has targeted mainly liberal groups with ‘sting’ operations, posted a video late on Sunday showing what it claims is evidence of an illegal effort to harvest absentee ballots,” Newsweek reported.
The Minneapolis Police Department posted on Twitter that they will be investigating the allegations: “ALLEGATIONS OF VOTER FRAUD BEING EVALUATED. ✅ The MPD is aware of the allegations of vote harvesting. We are in the process of looking into the validity of those statements. No further information is available at this time on this.”

The video released by Project Veritas shows a Snapchat video posted by Liban Mohamed, brother of Minneapolis city council member Jamal Osman, where he says: “Just today we got 300 for Jamal Osman. I have 300 ballots in my car right now. … Numbers don’t lie. You can see my car is full. All these here are absentee ballots. Look, all these are for Jamal Osman.”
A former Minneapolis political worker, who chose to remain anonymous, also informed Project Veritas that ballot harvesting from elderly people in a city housing complex, Charles Horn Towers, was being coordinated by Omar’s campaign deputy district director Ali Isse Gainey before the Minnesota primary on August 8th.
The anonymous political worker also said that during the primary, women and young people were paid for their ballots.
Project Veritas reported that they spoke with Hennepin County Attorney Jeff Wojciechowski about the allegations on a recorded line, and the attorney said that the ballot harvesting conduct they were reporting was “Illegal, and we will be investigating.”
On Monday, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman’s office said: “The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office has received no information or cases involving so-called ballot harvesting in any elections held in Hennepin County this year. If Project Veritas has evidence of election law violations, they should provide it to the Minneapolis Police Department.”
President Trump responded to the investigation from Project Veritas on Twitter: “This is totally illegal. Hope that the U.S. Attorney in Minnesota has this, and other of her many misdeeds, under serious review??? If not, why not??? We will win Minnesota because of her, and law enforcement. Saved Minneapolis & Iron O Range!”
