Officials are supposed to report the names of the tourists discovered dead at Sandals resort on Friday but CNN got scooped by People.

They talked to the son of one couple, who solved the whole mystery for the public. There was a problem with the air conditioner, Austin Chiarella explains. A chemical leaked out.

Chemical in the air conditioner

As reported by Mr. Chiarella, his mother Donnis Chiarella is the woman in the hospital. His father Vincent Chiarella is listed among the fatalities.

They were vacationing at the Sandals Emerald Bay resort on Exuma Island in the Bahamas for their anniversary. Another couple, a man and a woman were also killed by toxic chemical fumes. They are expected to be named by authorities today.

The three victims were discovered Friday. Mrs. Chiarella “visited a clinic after falling ill on Thursday.” After being released, she “thought she was alright.

Nobody suspected a chemical leak. When she awoke the following morning, she was paralyzed and her husband was dead. “My dad was laying there on the floor, and she couldn’t move.” Both are in their mid-60’s.

Her legs and arms were so swollen she couldn’t move but screaming attracted some attention and someone came in the door. As related by the Royal Bahamas Police Force Commissioner Paul Rolle, she was “transported to a hospital in Miami and was in serious condition.

Sandals still hasn’t admitted a chemical leak as the cause, claiming “a cause of death has not yet been identified.” They did say there was “a health emergency.

Follow the protocol

The hotel was sad to admit the “passing of three guests at Sandals Emerald Bay on May 6, 2022.” Without, of course, admitting their faulty equipment caused a toxic chemical leak that sent four people into convulsions before killing three of them.

They called the cops though. “A health emergency was initially reported and following our protocols we immediately alerted emergency medical professionals and relevant local authorities.

We are actively working to support both the investigation as well as the guests’ families in every way possible during this difficult time,” they add. When the police arrived, what they found was in the “first villa.

The report states, “on entering a bedroom, they found a Caucasian male laying on the ground unresponsive. An examination of the body was conducted, there was no signs of trauma found. The local doctor later pronounced the victim dead.” They don’t say anything about a chemical cause.

The officers were then directed to the second villa, where they found a Caucasian male slumped against the wall in a bathroom unresponsive. A Caucasian female was also found in a bedroom on a bed. She too was unresponsive. Both individuals showed signs of convulsion.” They died twitching like bugs sprayed with a can of raid.

The chemical used for air conditioning is Freon here in the U.S. but who knows what was used down there. All the officials are saying is that “the cause of death is still unknown.” You can rest assured though, that “foul play is not suspected.
