DOGE created a bit of a firestorm recently with the announced cuts to USAID.
From the reaction of Democrats, you would have thought Trump tossed the Constitution into the shredder and turned our country into a dictatorship.
Well, that outrage is only going to get worse when they see Trump’s next big cut.
It Has to Go
The GOP has been after the Department of Education since its inception.
It was created during the Jimmy Carter administration, and Ronald Reagan tried to have it dismantled when he took over as president.
Unfortunately, Reagan and subsequent attempts all failed, but Trump has a different plan.
Trump is now planning on gutting the agency from the inside out since he knows he does not have the support in Congress to get rid of it.
He wants to control education to the states, and remove yet another government agency that appears to drop the ball more than run with it.
Trump has nominated Linda McMahon to head the department, with the sole intent of gutting it, stating, “I want the states to run schools, and I want Linda to put herself out of a job.”
I know this will set off the left, but I really think this is the right thing to do based on the school systems I have seen.
While there are clearly some good public schools in this country, I have seen far too many schools that serve as nothing more than baby sitting services.
When I was in college, the education some of these kids delivered was shameful, as they were completely unprepared for college.
Return it to the states, provide federal funding for some programs, but leave the overall duties of education to each individual state.
Honestly, I doubt it can be any worse than what we are seeing right now. Allow voters to hold local elected officials accountable for the education of their children.
