The majority of Trump’s cabinet picks are going to sail right through the confirmation process.
There are a few, however, that are going to be challenged on both sides of the aisle.
One of those picks, Kash Patel, just got a nice vote of confidence after a McConnell loyalist appeared to give his approval.
He’s Going Through
Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) was always attached to McConnell’s hip, so he is not someone who can be trusted.
Having said that, Cornyn and Senator Thune, who has been elected as the majority leader, now appear to want to work with Trump rather than fighting him like they did last time around.
When Trump nominated Kash Patel to run the FBI, I expected Cornyn to be at the front of the mob, but it’s the complete opposite.
Cornyn was asked about approving Patel, and he seemed to be leaning into it, stating, “People I know and who I trust speak well of him and I’m looking forward to meeting with him.”
The reporter followed up, asking him directly if he thought Patel would get through, and Cornyn responded, “Yes, he will be.”
If Patel gets through, this will be a nightmare for Democrats, and the sensationalism we are going to see in the media will be unbearable.
Rest up, my friends, because the battle begins on January 20.
