Fulton County DA Fani Willis cannot catch a break, and Donald Trump loves it.
From the outset of that case, Trump has maintained that Willis was coordinating with the DOJ and Special Counsel Jack Smith.
That question is about to be answered after the court ordered Willis’ office to turn over all relevant communications with Smith and the DOJ.
We Need to See That
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) has been trying to get his hands on these documents for some time, but it winds up by conservative watchdog Judicial Watch that wound up defeating Willis in court.
Willis has blocked Jordan just about every step of the way, including firing back at Jordan, having told him, “Your attempt to invoke congressional authority to intrude upon and interfere with an active criminal case in Georgia is flagrantly at odds with the Constitution.”
Fulton County Superior Judge Robert McBurney disagreed, ordering all communications to be turned over as well as admonishing Willis’ office for not obeying the order when it was initially ordered.
This is yet another huge challenge for Willis, who had the appeal on Willis being able to remain on the case indefinitely suspended.
Her case against Trump cannot move forward until that appeal is heard, but this case could have far worse implications for Willis.
If the GOP finds out that the DOJ was coordinating all of this, it will go far deeper than Special Counsel Jack Smith, Willis, and Attorney General Merrick Garland.
This would prove the claim being made by Trump and his surrogates that the DOJ had been weaponized to take him out of the election.
It would be just one more “lie” that Trump has been accused of telling that turned out to be true after it was investigated.
I have to say, I just hope I live long enough to see how history judges this administration.
