When the men and women who are willing to take up arms to protect American freedom and the rights of our people choose to step forward and run for office, we prosper. Even and sometimes especially when they’ve had to take that stand against their own government. History has proven this to be so, over and over again.

But it’s always a little awkward when to carry on the fight, you have to join the government you once stood against. Especially if you’re running for Governor but are currently legally banned from entering the Statehouse.

The Run For Office We All Need To See

Ammon Bundy, one of the patriots who stood against the Obama administration’s Bureau of Land Management, seizing the Malheur Wildlife Refuge of Oregon in armed protest has announced his candidacy for Governor of Idaho.

Bundy told the crowd gathered for his campaign announcement,

“I’m running for Governor because I’m sick and tired of all of this political garbage just like you are. I’m tired of our freedoms being taken from us and I’m tired of the corruption that is rampant in our state Government,”

The Idaho Statesman reported, “Bundy laid out a wide-ranging plan to overhaul Idaho’s government. He told supporters he wants to end “immoral” taxation, including “all property tax in our state” as well as personal income tax. In their place, he said the state will meet its budgetary needs by levying only sales tax, which he said he believes is acceptable because people can “voluntarily” choose what they purchase.

Bundy also proposes bringing federal lands under state control, which he says will allow Idahoans to “spread out” across the state.”

Taking a firm stance against the Biden-Harris regime and promising to take a hatchet to taxes in ‘the gem state’, and strenuously rebuking Black Lives Matter,  Bundy is making major waves in a crowded Republican primary and has apparently drawn the ire of the local GOP establishment. He tweeted out that Tom Luna and the Idaho GOP he chairs have taken a stance against his candidacy. The more the establishment Republicans and Democrats recoil, the more important it is that this bid for office is a successful one.

The Saga of the Bundy’s

The Bundy family became nationally recognized after a 2014 armed standoff with BLM and Law Enforcement at the Bundy Ranch in Nevada owned by his Father Cliven. While Ammon would become better known for taking part in the armed protest at Malheur Refuge in Oregon.

The siege lasted some 41 days in 2016, ending in a tense standoff with Law Enforcement that saw the tragic death of LaVoy Finicum at the hands of Oregon State Police. Bundy and 15 other participants in the armed protest were acquitted by a Federal Grand Jury, but only after being imprisoned in solitary confinement for almost two years. President Trump would later issue a pardon for Dwight and Steven Hammond the ranchers whose arrest for a controlled brush burn that spread to federal land sparked the protest.
