Glenn Loury Slams ‘Liberal Anti-Racists’ Ignoring Chicago Carnage

It says a lot when a prominent Black figure comes out on a detailed rant over “liberal anti-racists” and the way they are intentionally ignoring all the senseless carnage happening every single day in liberal cities like Chicago.

Chicago violence isn’t inevitable

When a transit driver in Chicago, Illinois was senselessly beaten recently by a group of Black Lives Matter™ sponsored, Antifa® brand anarchists, a local and equally Black columnist “blasted the Democratic political leadership” responsible for creating the climate where such a horrifying act of violence could become a daily occurrence.

Chicago has become a “roiling cauldron of violence,” economist and Brown University professor Glenn Loury declares. “This is not ‘systemic racism.’ Rather, it’s savagery running amok right in the center of my hometown.” Not surprisingly, the “perpetrators are black youth.”

It worries him that “about this fiasco, there is not a mumbling word to be heard from the liberal anti-racists. I wonder why not.”

The controversial conversation started when Loury responded to a tweet from columnist John Kass. “Lightfoot, Foxx, Preckwinkle, Pritzker, Judge Evans. Look at what your liberal policies have done to Chicago, city of anarchy. You’ve killed the city. You make speeches about ‘equity’ Disgusting and shameless.”

Lori Lightfoot and her wife don’t like to talk about the hefty bill they pay each month for private security.

Gun play in the streets

A walk through the downtown area of the Windy City today would leave a stranger thinking he was back in the thrilling wild-west days of yesteryear. Police are powerless to do anything while rival gangs shoot it out in the street, day and night, over petty disputes.

“Last weekend, three people were shot dead and 26 were shot and wounded in Chicago. On Monday, nine more people were shot. On Tuesday, seven more people were shot. On Wednesday, 10 people more were shot, three fatally,” Loury writes, citing the latest statistics.

Loury has a few choice things to say about people of color in the community who lead young Chicago Afro-Americans astray. Al Sharpton, for instance. “I think the politics of the Democratic Party is perfect for creating the careers of people like Al Sharpton, who broker the race card and the votes of black Democrats for the access that they can get.”

False leaders like Sharp Al “played a certain kind of functional role in something that I think really poorly represents the interest of African-Americans.”

If Sharpton were serious he would be backing ideas like charter schools. He would urge “African-Americans to adopt kids who don’t have any parents.” He could start saying things to Chicago gang members like “it’s possible for black kids to compete effectively if they get the kind of instruction and support that they need to acquire the intellectual skills that allow them to compete.” Sharpton refuses to “find ex-offenders who were prepared to reject the gang life and affirm decent ways of living.”

God forbid that Black leaders might “foster relationships of guidance with young men who were not yet on the right path.” The “high-level shtick” is so refined to perfection that “he’s out Jesse Jacksoning Jesse Jackson in the twenty-first century while the clock keeps ticking on poor black people, and the demagoguery that spews out of him is almost completely unrelated to the actual material needs of this population.”
