One of the new agencies created by Donald Trump was Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
This was initially supposed to be headed by Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk, but Ramaswamy has already bailed, so Musk is doing this on his own. Ramaswamy is expected to announce a run for governor in Ohio, but there were rumors that Musk wanted him gone.
After announcing his first cuts, primarily on USAID, focusing on fraud, waste, and possible money laundering, other states are now using that as an example of how they can cut waste.
Let’s Do This
When Musk announced the USAID cuts, I was stunned that Democrats had such a meltdown.
I won’t say every program at USAID was bad, but when you see the overall list, there was clearly waste and some very questionable funneling of cash.
This has spurred on a DOGE Fever, if you will, with Republicans on other states looking to replicate this formula.
For instance, in New Jersey, GOP Assemblymen Alex Sauickie and Christopher DePhillips recently introduced Resolution 213.
They stated that “government is like a baby – an alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no responsibility at the other.
“Except babies, if raised and disciplined rightly, grow into adults who usually become productive members of society. Those adopting our state budgets show no such discipline.”
In Texas, Senate President Pro-Tempore Brandon Creighton stated, “Seeing the swift action by President Trump and Elon Musk with DOGE is a welcome and necessary new era in Washington, D.C. – and I know they are just getting started.
“Many have said that Washington should take notes from Texas – because the Texas economic engine is proof that when government is committed to efficiency, accountability and conservative results, taxpayers win.”
We all knew our government was wasting money and that the Biden administration was using our tax dollars to promote a woke agenda, but I don’t think anyone realized just how bad it really was.
At the very worst, peoples’ eyes are being opened up to just how corrupt and wasteful our government really is.
