The Fox News family was shattered this week to learn that one of its own had passed at only 45 years old.
Fox News contributor Dr. Kelly Powers lost her battle with cancer.
She was first diagnosed in 2020 and went into remission, but the disease came back and claimed her life.
She’s Gone
Kelly was a very popular medical contributor on Fox News, but her life was rocked in 2020 when she was diagnosed with Glioblastoma.
She found out she had brain cancer after suffering a seizure, also learning that their surrogate was pregnant.
She explained, “So, the brain surgeon is wheeling me in to have surgery – he suddenly stops and says, ‘Hey just want to let you know before I put you under, you’re pregnant – the surrogate took and you have a baby boy on the way!’ I honestly could only think – what the h**l is happening.”
After the diagnosis, she was immediately operated on, then underwent immunotherapy and chemo treatments.
In 2021, she got the good news that her cancer had gone into remission.
Powers was on Fox News when she suffered a cardiac event, ironically, while discussing heart health on the show.
She stated, “It’s crazy – I went into heart failure while doing a report on Fox Business – live – on heart health and talking about the subtle signs that women often miss. You can’t make this up.
“I was actually diagnosed with heart disease by accident when my gallbladder was failing and I had to have it removed.
“That led to my heart being examined and… I couldn’t believe it – here I was in my late 30s, experiencing a health condition that a much older person would be diagnosed with.”
She clearly had a difficult life, but she definitely made the most of it.
The truly sad part of this story is that her new son will now have to go through is childhood without his mother… it’s truly heartbreaking.
Rest in peace, young lady.
