In the days since the attempt on President Trump’s life, surely everyone has seen in his public appearances since then that he has been sporting a sizable white bandage on his left ear.
At the risk of sounding glib about a very serious situation, it’s almost impossible to not notice it.
Due to the way our ears sit on our heads, they’re one of the hardest spots to apply a bandage of any kind to where it doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb.
Ear injuries are strange in that way that they are difficult to treat.
Aside from the spot where they connect directly to your head, your ears are kind of free floating; which makes recovery from any kind of ear injury difficult.
In the mid 1990s, professional wrestler Mick Foley had part of his ear torn off in an in-ring accident during a match in Germany. To this day he still has what’s effectively a nub of an ear.
However, in the proceeding couple of decades there have been great advancements in surgical methods, particularly in the field of plastic surgery.
Dennis Dass, a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, revealed in an interview a couple of key points about the injury to President Trump’s ear.
For starters, he pointed out that he was extremely lucky at the spot in the ear in which Donald Trump was struck. We’ve all seen the horrible photos of President Trump’s ear bleeding.
He was struck in the top part of his right ear, which if you are going to get shot in the ear, is apparently the best place to be hit. Due to the location of the injury, plastic surgery to repair the damage is quite simple as far as building out a new ear goes.
The surgery itself is another thing entirely. You would think that a procedure designed to repair a severely damaged ear would cost an unimaginable amount of money.
Dr. Dass also mentioned that the surgery itself only costs about ten thousand dollars. Which for Donald Trump is more than likely the money he found in a coat that he hadn’t worn in a while.
The point is, with competent doctors Donald Trump’s can be restored to good as new before that horrible day in Pennsylvania.
