Well, the latest Democrat plan to ensure victory in elections shows just how extreme the left has gone.
They now want to lower the voting age in this country to 16.
Can you imagine the same kids that are worried about getting their TikTok dance steps right and eating Tide pods having the power to vote in a presidential election?
The Plan
This is something that is already finding a home in several Democrat-run cities.
Boston has already approved a petition to allow 16+ to vote in municipal elections.
The petition now has to gain approval of the Massachusetts legislature, so it is still not a lock to happen.
City Councilor Kenzie Bok, who sponsored the petition, stated, “We don’t apply a maturity index to the right to vote for any other age.
“Having the opportunity to vote is what gives our 16- and 17-year-olds a chance to engage meaningfully.”
Yeah, that is because we are hoping most people are mature enough to responsibly vote by the time they are 18, but I would question that in today’s world.
You want them engaged? Let them in engage in politics in the classroom before you allow them to pull the handle.
This is just a ploy to win elections by Democrats, nothing more.
We know that younger voters tend to fall in line with the Democrats, so these are guaranteed votes for them.
Hans von Spakovsky of the Heritage Foundation responded, “This is a foolish, cynical move by Boston and other jurisdictions.
“Under the law, 16- and 17-year-olds are minors. They can’t sign contracts or leases, buy alcohol, join the military, serve on a jury, or engage in a host of other activities that only legal adults are qualified to engage in because we as a society have judged that they have not yet developed the experience and judgment to make such decisions.
“They aren’t even treated as adults when they commit crimes, except under exceptional circumstances, for the very same reason.”
All valid points… you do not get to pick and choose rights based on your narrative.
You want them to vote, the rest of that comes along with it… so I cannot wait to hear how Democrats respond to that.
