When I first started to talk about the big $1.7 trillion omnibus bill that McConnell helped pass, what did I say?
If you remember, this was all about McConnell pacifying his lobbyist buddies and the defense contracting industry.
As right as I was, I forgot one major aspect of this all.
It was also so members of Congress could get rich on their defense contractor stock purchases.
Show Me the Money
A paycheck of $800 billion will go a long way in making defense contract stocks blow up.
This is a problem that goes across both aisles and exposes some pretty big frauds in Congress.
The biggest beneficiary in all of this was Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR).
In 2021, he had a 40 percent return on his defense stocks, pretty damned good.
Then there was our little rebel, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).
She had a tidy 35 percent return on investments that benefited from congressional legislation.
On February 22, 2022, House Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene bought Lockheed Martin, $LMT, Chevron, $CVX, and NextEra Energy, $NEE.
The next day, Rep. Greene said “War and rumors of war is incredibly profitable and convenient."
Ukraine was invaded the two days later.
