Three weeks following the initial October 7 Hamas massacre in Israel, the terror leader responsible for planning the vicious attack has finally been eliminated. Asem Abu Rakaba, the man responsible for leading paraglider units into a music festival in southern Israel, was killed by Israeli forces in northern Gaza on Saturday morning, October 28.
The news is a relief to those who have been grieving, and is a reminder that justice will be served.
On October 7th 2023, over 3,600 people were gathered together at a music festival near Kfar Maimon when three Hamas terrorists flew in with paragliders around 6:30 AM. The killers opened fire, brutally murdering almost 300 attendees and raping several young women.
Those who weren’t killed were taken hostage by Hamas and remain missing to this day who may have been brought back to Gaza along with other known captives. Photos released after the attack showed one of them armed with an AK47 as they entered the area to slaughter innocent people – it was an organized act of war crime that shocked the civilized world.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded swiftly to this atrocity – he announced that electricity and water would be cut off from Gaza until all hostages are returned to Israel by their captors. He also ordered military strikes against northern Gaza where Asem Abu Rakaba was eventually killed in retaliation for his actions against Israelis at the Nova dance party massacre three weeks earlier.
These swift responses have been praised by many people both here in Israel and abroad as an appropriate response to such heinous crimes against humanity.
The elimination of Asem Abu Rakaba brings some peace-of-mind back into Israel which has been gripped by tragedy since October 7th when nearly 300 lives were taken away in an unjust manner spurred on by hate.
