Another Russian Hit Team Neutralized

Vladimir Putin can scratch another two dozen assassins. The latest hit team “was arrested on the border with Slovakia.” Back on February 26, the “Kadyrov forces unit” was “eliminated.” On that try, they split their forces in two groups, one was captured, the other killed. This time, the “Wagner group” was in charge of the operation.

Scratch another hit team

Russia’s end of the invasion isn’t going anywhere near as smoothly as Vladimir Putin’s ex-generals promised. Making things worse, the Kremlin seems to be infested with moles.

This latest assassination attempt was foiled the same as before. Someone on the inside dropped a dime. When the hit team rolled up to the border on March 5, they were expected. It ruined their day.

A squad of 25 mercenary killers including a Russian secret service agent were “rounded up by police in Uzhgorod, western Ukraine, while on their way to Kyiv last night,” Bild reported Tuesday, March 8.

Their primary mission was to kill president Volodymyr Zelensky but the team had a whole list of secondary targets, too.

According to “Kyiv counter-intelligence sources,” a Russian FSB agent “accompanied” two dozen “Wagner mercenaries.” This isn’t the first attempt on Zelensky’s life.

The defiant Ukrainian President “has been targeted by an estimated dozen-plus assassination attempts since his country’s invasion by Russia late last month.” The latest team “carried orders to kill Zelensky and infiltrate other elements of the Ukrainian government.

Kremlin compromised

Zelensky would be dead already if it wasn’t for leaking rats inside the FSB. The Russian Secret Service used to be called the KGB when Putin was in charge of it.

Ukraine news Unian is thanking “an anti-war faction within the Russian secret service itself” for tipping “off Kyiv to the squad’s whereabouts.” The team was doomed before they started.

As “the face of his nation’s dogged and defiant war effort against invading Moscow,” Zelensky is the key target but Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and the presidential chief of staff Andriy Yermak “were listed as among the other alleged assassination targets.

The Kremlin just lost all the plausible deniability around their independent contractor hit team. The Russians have been denying for years that they use “the bloodthirsty Wagner group, a 600-strong mercenary squad.” Everyone already knew that Chechen and Wagner mercenaries “have done Moscow’s dirty work across the globe.

The team of operatives had a “24-person kill list” and were staged along the border waiting for the okay to proceed. Someone on the inside at the secret service alerted “the upper echelons of the Ukrainian government.

They instantly slapped down a “36-hour ‘hard‘ curfew.” What that means is that everyone was locked down indoors “while authorities ‘swept the streets‘ for Russian saboteurs.
