If Dr. Anthony Fauci was so detached from the gain of function research being conducted at the Wuhan Institute of Virology at the behest of the EcoHealth Alliance, who were recipients of funding from the NIH and NIAD, then why was he trading emails with their President like they were old friends?
Fauci and The Inconvenient Email Connections
According to emails obtained through a FOIA request and reported in RedState and Townhall, Dr. Fauci was emailing back and forth with one Dr. Peter Daszak, the president of the EcoHealth Alliance and also propagating articles that favored Dr. Daszak and his view that the COVID19 virus was zoonotic in origin and not lab leaked. A view which is becoming more discredited as the theory gains more traction in mainstream scientific circles.
Responding to Fauci’s vigorous, public refutation of the lab-leak theory Daszak wrote to Fauci to thank him,
“As the Pl (Principle Investigator/Program Director) of the ROl (Research Project Grant (R01)) grant publicly targeted by Fox News reporters at the Presidential press briefing last night, I just wanted to say a personal thank you on behalf of our staff and collaborators, for publicly standing up and stating that the scientific evidence supports a natural origin for COVID-19 from a bat-to-human spillover, not a lab release from the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
From my perspective, your comments are brave, and coming from your trusted voice, will help dispel the myths being spun around the virus’ origins. Once this pandemic’s over I look forward thanking you in person and let you know how important your comments are to us all.”
Shocking Emails Show It’s ‘Who you know’
What is particularly worrisome about this exchange is that Dr. Daszak was one of the head “investigators” brought in by the Chinese-owned and Operated UN World Health Organization to hunt down the cause of the COVID19 virus (aka SARS-CoV-2)… when his organization was funding the gain-of-function research on the American taxpayer’s dime SUPPOSEDLY without the knowledge of Dr. Fauci.
That’s a bit like hypothetically having Saddam’s top nuclear physicist lead the search for WMD’s in Iraq. (Another instance where someone would be tasked to look for something with no evidence in the wrong place…)
ScienceMag ran a story which Dr. Fauci spread in the emails which touted Dr. Daszak’s team in Chinese caves searching for the source of the virus… which revealed that Dr. Daszak has collaborated with another familiar figure in the COVID19 mystery for over a decade..
Dr. Shi Zheng-Li at one point nicknamed ‘Bat Woman’ in the press and praised beside Fauci as a “COVID Hunter’, notably disappeared for an extended period during the initial outbreak under suspicious circumstances. Only months later did Zheng-Li reappear dutifully parroting CCP talking points. China was more worried about changing the name of the virus than about fighting it back then.
According to Townhall,
“Three Wuhan lab staffers fell ill with COVID-like symptoms in November 2019. The lab destroyed samples that December. New video shows lab technicians being bitten by bats, not wearing proper protective gear, and they were covered in blood. Now, we learn that Fauci and the NIH gave tons of cash to this lab via the EcoHealth Alliance.”
Dr. Fauci’s long-held support for gain-of-function research is well documented and completely flies in the face of his testimony before Congress and contentious exchanges with Sens. Rand Paul and John Kennedy. And now with the release of over three thousand pages of his emails making contradictory comments and covering for his cohorts, Dr. Fauci is looking more like Faust every day. Having long ago sold his soul to Mephistopheles.
