Pentagon Tells DC to Forget About It

Sorry, Muriel, deal with the migrant invasion of D.C. on your own, the Pentagon declared. No, you can’t have any National Guard troops. Hey, look, the palace just had FEMA cut another check for a million bucks to SAMU, so it’s their problem. Go ahead and give them a jingle so I can get back to this war Nancy Pelosi started with China.

Pentagon stays out of D.C.

As written up by Military Times on Friday, August 5, the Pentagon “rejected a request from the District of Columbia seeking National Guard assistance in what the mayor has called a ‘growing humanitarian crisis‘ prompted by thousands of migrants being bused to the city from two southern states.

Mayor Muriel Bowser was careful not to call it an invasion, which it is. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin “declined to provide Guard personnel and the use of the D.C. Armory to assist with the reception of migrants into the city.

Mayor Bowser is simply going to have to do her own job and find suitable sanctuary for all the migrants Joe Biden and his handlers invited to come and stay.

A Pentagon official, afraid to give their name because the decision hadn’t actually been made public yet, explains that the latest inside info update told them “the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s food and shelter program has provided funding for the problem, and has indicated those funds are sufficient.” It’s rumored to be an even million dollars.

An overwhelmed Mayor Bowser begged Joe Biden last month for “an open-ended deployment of 150 National Guard members per day.

She also demanded a “suitable federal location” for “a mass housing and processing center.” The guard’s D.C. Armory would have worked perfectly, she claimed. The Pentagon officially told her to forget it and she’s back to square one.

Personnel nearing exhaustion

Ever since the buses began arriving from Texas and Arizona, there have been more of them with more passengers every day. Even though the arrivals in D.C. are a fraction of what comes across the border, they’re already diverting overflow to New York City. That, in turn, is overwhelming the resources in the Big Apple.

Mayor Eric Adams took immediate charge of the situation. He’s offering all migrants sanctuary in city hotel rooms and sending the bills off to Joe Biden. At least he isn’t bothering the Pentagon.

In Washington, a “coalition of local charitable groups has been working to feed and shelter the migrants.” That would be SAMU. They confirmed the reports of a fresh infusion of a million dollars from FEMA but note that throwing money at the problem isn’t solving the staff shortage.

Their “personnel were nearing exhaustion.” Mayor Bowser was trying to help but the Pentagon won’t send needed personnel. “This reliance on NGOs is not working and is unsustainable,” Bowser barked.

The Pentagon doesn’t seem to care that SAMU is “overwhelmed and underfunded.” That million dollars is already spent and still not enough. The really scary part is that the invasion still hasn’t ramped up to what it will be like once Title 42 sinks into the sunset.

Then, we’ll be looking at around 18,000 per day coming in. Right now, D.C. can’t handle the ones trickling in. The influx, Bowser says, “is stressing her government’s ability to care for its own homeless residents and now requires a federal response.” She got one. The response is “no.
