The attack on former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul, has been pushed back into the spotlight as the accused perpetrator, David DePape, revealed some shocking information during his recent court testimony on Tuesday, November 14. According to DePape, he had planned to wear an inflatable unicorn costume and break into the speaker’s home to discuss Russian involvement in the 2016 election.
DePape said he wanted to force then-Speaker Pelosi and other notable “targets” to admit they were corrupt and eventually get President Joe Biden to pardon them all. Unfortunately, when DePape arrived at the couple’s mansion instead of finding Nancy he found her 83 year old husband Paul who was hit with a hammer during the October 28th break-in.

David DePape pleaded not guilty to federal charges related to the attack.

The Post reported:
“On one of those podcasts, he heard conservative commentator James Lindsay talk about Bay Area scholar Dr. Gayle Rubin, a leading academic in feminist theory and queer studies.
“The takeaway I got is that she wants to turn our schools into pedophile molestation factories,” he said of Rubin, who has been referred to as “Target 1” in federal court documents.
Rubin also testified on Tuesday and said her writings were misconstrued to fit a narrative against the gay movement.
When asked by DePape’s defense attorney if she supported child abuse, Rubin replied, “Absolutely not.””
In his testimony on Tuesday, Paul recounted how he was able to dial 911 while Depape was preparing to tie him up saying “the door opened and a very large man came in with a hammer in one hand and some ties in the other and he said, ‘Where’s Nancy?’ And I think that woke me up.” He further stated that “I recognized I was in danger.”
After Paul opened the door for police Depape struck him with a hammer resulting in several serious wounds including fractures skull as well as injuries to his arm and hands which required hospitalization for several days.
After much discussion Judge Stephen Murphy released bodycam video footage as well as U.S Capitol Police surveillance audio from 911 calls associated with this incident last Friday at noon after ruling that credentialed members of media could access such materials from district attorney’s office. When asked about seeing this video Nancy Pelosi replied by saying she wasn’t certain whether or not she wanted too see it given its content being so personal related directly towards her family.
