The former Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention under President Trump Dr. Robert R. Redfield, when the Federal Agency was as Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) put it “one of the most respected scientific organizations in the world” before becoming politicized and allowing their reputation to be devastated, has now explained why in his considered opinion as a virologist he believes COVID-19 originated in a laboratory. In an interview, Dr. Redfield further exposes that the World Health Organization is ‘compromised’ according to Fox News.
It’s a devastating blow to Chinese Communist Party apologists who have continually worked to spin and obfuscate the origin of the highly contagious respiratory virus which spurred a politicized, media-driven global panic that shut down much of the civilized world in 2020.
Dr. Redfield, a retired Colonel in the US Army Medical Corps. has an unimpeachable reputation in his field. He is renowned for massive contributions to clinical research into viral and therapeutic treatments for HIV and AIDS, making the controversial breakthrough at the time that the virus could be spread through heterosexual intercourse. Dr. Redfield also created the staging system still in use worldwide for the clinical assessment of HIV infection and co-founded the Institute of Human Virology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. This makes Dr. Redfield’s views on the origin of COVID19 all the more startling and impactful.
Redfield was appointed by President Trump in 2018 to replace Brenda Fitzgerald who had resigned following a conflict of interest scandal. Dr. Redfield represented an interesting middle ground. While he was a definite deep state man going back to his role as a Presidential Advisor on HIV/AIDS to Presidents Bush and Obama in 2005-2009 and a career man at the NIH and FDA. He was also a nominee that was vehemently opposed by Congressional Democrats like Patty Murray(D-WA).
He told Fox News,
“When I said before that I didn’t think it was biologically plausible that COVID-19 went from a bat to some unknown animal into man and now had become one of the most infectious viruses,” Redfield said,
“That’s not consistent with how other coronaviruses have come into the human species. And, it does suggest that there’s an alternative hypothesis that it went from a bat virus, got into a laboratory, where in the laboratory, it was taught, educated, it evolved, so that it became a virus that could efficiently transmit human to human.”
“I’m just giving my best opinion as a virologist, and I don’t think it’s plausible that this virus went from a bat to an animal – we still don’t know that animal – and then went into humans and immediately had learned how to be human-to-human transmissible to the point of now causing one of the greatest pandemics we’ve had in the history of the world,” Redfield added.
This isn’t a new opinion for the eminently respected scientist either, he’s been saying it at least since March when he told a CNN Interviewer,
“I still think the most likely etiology of this pathogen in Wuhan was from a laboratory, you know, escaped,”
“It’s not unusual for respiratory pathogens that are being worked on in a laboratory to infect a laboratory worker,” he said.
Dr. Redfield Exposes A Key Disagreement With Dr. Fauci
Dr. Redfield had a hypothesis on the origin of COVID-19 about a year and a half ago, he told Dr. Marc Siegel of NYU Medicine, so did Dr. Anthony Fauci. Redfield believes the illness originated in a lab, Fauci does not.
“There’s an alternative hypothesis, that it went from a bat virus got into a laboratory. where in the laboratory it was taught, educated, it evolved. So that it became a virus that could efficiently transmit human to human.
“My professional opinion as a virologist is that’s the hypothesis that I support. Other individuals, Tony Fauci for example would say that he prefers to support that it evolved from nature. I think those are the two hypotheses.”
“I think Tony is holding to this hypothesis tightly. Now, why would that be?”
“Sometimes scientists, when they get on… when they bite into a bone on hypothesis, it’s hard for them to move on.
If I’m disappointed about anything about the early scientific community, there seems to be a lack of openness to pursue both hypotheses.”
The WHO is ‘Compromised’
Dr. Redfield was also extremely clear in his interview, that while he didn’t believe the COVID19 release was intentional, he DOES believe that the World Health Organization was ‘compromised’ by China and that what was going on in that lab, was definitely NOT accidental.
“I think they were highly compromised. Clearly, they were incapable of compelling China to adhere to the treaty agreements that they have on global health because they didn’t do that. Clearly, they allowed China to define the group of scientists that could come and investigate. That’s not consistent with their role.”
