New reports have brought to light that the headline-grabbing exodus of Texan Democratic Lawmakers could amount to little more than a PR stunt bankrolled by Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke. Seriously.
The Light Weight, Not-Gun-Czar
The gun-grabbing-est Democrat to ever attempt to run for office in Texas? Yeah, him. The one who threw his Presidential campaign and endorsed Joe Biden in exchange for being made his “Gun Czar”? Which turned out to be a promise that disappeared like a whiff in the wind? Yeah, that guy.
Not kidding about that last bit by the way.. remember this one?
“I want to make something clear: I’m going to guarantee you this is not the last you’re seeing of this guy. You’re going to take care of the gun problem with me. You’re going to be the one who leads this effort. I’m counting on you. We need you badly, the state needs you, the country needs you, you’re the best.” Biden said after he collected O’Rourke’s supporters from him.
National Review wrote, “So what happened? Biden won the election, and yet, one year later, he hasn’t “come for” O’Rourke in any manner at all. His pick for ATF is David Chipman, not Beto. His gun-control efforts have been laundered through America’s well-established gun control groups, not through Beto.”
“Biden hasn’t even created a “czar” style position for Beto that would allow him to bypass the Senate.”
Oooof. Makes you wonder if he has ‘sell-out’s remorse’.
Funding Texas Legislators Abandoning Their Posts
So back to those Texas Representatives and Senators who decided to bail on their responsibility to faithfully represent their constituents. How did they wind up getting a Beto bank-rolled field trip to the Capitol where they were glad-handed and propped up for the cameras by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer?
The New York Post wrote,
“O’Rourke — a Democrat who represented Texas in the House until losing a 2018 challenge to incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) — said Wednesday night that his Powered By People PAC had raised more than $525,000 to cover travel, lodging, food, and other expenses.”
“The group, who flew to the nation’s capital on a private jet, are expected to stay in DC for a month. With a hotel room for each of them over the course of that time, the final hotel bill will undoubtedly be in the thousands.”
“A hundred percent of what we raise will go to support them for as long as they need and for whatever it takes to win this fight,” the former presidential candidate said in a statement Wednesday.
So what is “Beto” getting out of this disingenuous fight which Governor Gregg Abbott already devastated with expert precision? He’s getting some nice effective advertising for a 2024 campaign of course! He’s already missed the cutoff for any races in 2022, so he needs to stay relevant for another cycle, so you can trust and believe that Mr. O’Rourke is going to be doing some high profile fundraising and throwing around money to every Democrat-Socialist cause celebre he can get his mitts on.
Expect more stunts like this to come as Robert Francis clings desperately to the coattails of any newsmakers he can to stay in the headlines as much as possible.
