I think it is fair to say that most of us fell in love with Kayleigh McEnany when she was Donald Trump’s White House Press Secretary.
McEnany, for my money, was one of the most effective press secretaries in modern history.
The fact the mainstream media constantly whined about her hammering them is proof of that.
Not Coming Back
If you are like me, you were hoping that McEnany would make it back for round two of the Trump presidency.
That, however, is not going to happen, as I am assuming there is still some bad blood between McEnany and Trump over polling reports.
During the primary race, McEnany reported on the average of all polls with accurate numbers, but Donald Trump was upset that she did not cite the most recent poll, which had Trump up by more than the average of all polls.
Trump responded to her report by calling her “Milktoast.”
Trump had posted, “Kayleigh ‘Milktoast’ McEnany just gave out the wrong poll numbers on FoxNews. I am 34 points up on DeSanctimonious, not 25 up. While 25 is great, it’s not 34.”
Not only did Trump spell “milquetoast” wrong, but he also upset a lot of his supporters with the dig against McEnany, who was fierce as his press secretary.
That wound appears to remain open because Trump just named Karline Leavitt the new White House Press Secretary.
Trump stated, “Karoline Leavitt did a phenomenal job as the National Press Secretary on my Historic Campaign, and I am pleased to announce she will serve as White House Press Secretary.
“Karoline is smart, tough, and has proven to be a highly effective communicator. I have the utmost confidence she will excel at the podium, and help deliver our message to the American People as we, Make America Great Again.”
Leavitt is young, so I hope she studied the tape on McEnany because the media is going to come after her with everything it has.
She is the youngest press secretary to hold the post (she is 27) since Ron Ziegler served as White House Press Secretary at the age of 29 during the Nixon administration.
