As we have noted before, North Carolina and Michigan are the two biggest states on the docket for these two candidates.
For Trump, the key to everything is winning North Carolina and Georgia. For Harris, she needs to sweep the blue wall states of Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
Well, Harris officials are starting to panic because of the inroads Trump has made in North Carolina and Michigan, so her campaign is trying to figure out other possible paths to victory if Harris continues to collapse in these states.
Can’t Win
If Trump wins North Carolina and Georgia, he would only need to split Michigan and Pennsylvania as well as Arizona and Nevada.
The back end of that seems like it is a lock right now, which means Harris has to block Trump in North Carolina and Michigan/Pennsylvania.
Unfortunately for her campaign, Harris is seeing a growing resistance from Muslims in Michigan.
Her campaign has also been impacted by the recent rescue and recovery efforts for North Carolina.
This has left her campaign scrambling to try find a new path for Harris to get to 270.
A recent report on the state of her campaign stated, “’There has been a thought that maybe Michigan or Wisconsin will fall off,’ said a senior Harris campaign official, who stressed that the bigger concern is over Michigan.
“Two other people with knowledge of campaign strategy — who, like others in this article, were granted anonymity to speak candidly — also underscored deep concern about Michigan.
“Those people still believe that all the states are close and that there are alternative routes to victory.”
The states are all close, but Trump appears to have all the momentum on his side right now.
Virtually every recent poll shows movement toward Trump, which is far more important than the percentages right now.
If Trump is in the positive and gaining, that is not a good sign for Harris heading into election day.
The bad news for Harris is that even if she somehow wins Michigan, Trump is currently ahead in Pennsylvania, and his lead seems to be growing. So, if Harris wants to win, she somehow has to flip at least two of these other battleground states where Trump is currently leading.
