During the 2020 election cycle, Harris made it very clear that she was against fracking.
Then she suddenly reversed her position.
Now, her staffers are playing semantics, but the bottom line here is that if Harris gets into office, states like PA that depend on fracking are going to lose some serious income.
Flip Flop
While Harris was still in the race during the 2020 cycle, she stated, “There’s no question I’m in favor of banning fracking.”
Then she dialed that back a bit as VP because Biden tried to say that he would continue to allow fracking.
Trump has never bought into this, and with PA a key state for him, he told his supporters, “She’s against fracking, she’s against oil drilling, she wants everybody to have one electric car and share it with the neighbors.
“Harris has stated repeatedly that she supports, quote, banning fracking. I’ll ban fracking, I’ll ban it on my first day.”
Well, Trump was right, because now Harris staffers are getting cute with the words to explain her position.
Camila Thorndike, Harris’s climate engagement director, recently stated, “Just to be clear, Vice President Harris hasn’t said anything that the administration hasn’t already said.
“She is not promoting expansion [of fracking leases]. She’s just said that they wouldn’t ban fracking and the fact that anyone could look up is that the IRA required leases, and that was not something that she promoted.”
So, if you are not allowing new fracking leases, is that not a ban? After all, in GOP states that have limitations on when an abortion can be had, Dems call that a ban, so this is the same type of situation.
It’s semantics, my friend, and if Dems say abortion restrictions are a ban, then fraction restrictions are also a ban!
