Shooting up the bus station and wounding three innocent bystanders was only his “peaceful protest” of inadequate mental health options. Three Michigan State Police officers were immediately sent home on administrative suspension, pending investigation of a November 27 shooting which resulted in the unfortunate demise of 54-year-old Anthony Oliver. Obviously, it was another case of brutal enforcement of outdated laws. Oliver was murdered in cold blood simply for the crime of being Black.

Gratuitous bus station gunfire

Who says there’s nothing to do for cheap in Kalamazoo these days? If you’re bored and on a low budget, you can always shoot up a bus station for fun. Be advised though, police have been defunded right out of the picture but that doesn’t mean they won’t kill you if they can, especially if you’re Black.

Anthony Oliver didn’t mind getting canceled by cops, he’s tried to do it before. “Oliver had a history of mental illness and had attempted suicide-by-cop in 2018.” It worked this time.

His family knew he was about to blow his cork before he headed to the bus stop. “Oliver’s family has claimed that the gunman was seeking help for mental illness when the shooting rampage occurred.”

His nephew explains, he “had just taken his uncle to the hospital and refilled his prescriptions.” The overworked hospital gave him some drugs and sent him off on his shooting spree.

Police confirm that he was one of their frequent fliers. “The suspect did have an extensive criminal history which includes assault and armed robbery of a police officer in the past,” MSP Detective Lieutenant Criger verifies.

He didn’t think twice about capping anyone in his way at the bus station.

Bad day for the driver

It was a really bad day for one Kalamazoo Transit driver but she kept her head, did all the right things and helped police above and beyond the call of her duties. The Dashcam “captured video of a man running for his life toward” her particular coach, parked at the Kalamazoo Transit Center.

“On his heels” was Anthony Oliver with “a gun in his hand as he chased the man into the bus.”

“Oliver stepped onto the bus, fired one shot at the man at close range, and then stepped back off the bus.” Well, alright then. “He continued to stand and point his gun into the bus but the bus driver closed the doors in front of him.” That wasn’t nice.

Recorded audio catches Oliver as he “let out a grunt of rage or frustration and then turned, gun in hand, and stalked off.” The alert driver snapped into action.

She “called her dispatcher for assistance and continued to relay information about the gunman’s location as the incident unfolded.” At one point she noted he was reloading. Other security footage from several vantages “showed that Oliver walked around the bus station shooting at random people and turned around and walked back toward the bus.” He didn’t care who he blasted at. “He’s shooting at security down here,” a voice can be heard saying over the radio. “Oliver came flying back past the bus as the first officer arrived on the scene.”

The police officer made the mistake of returning fire. “Oliver was shot in a brief gunfight. He was transported to the hospital for treatment and later died.” Three “people were shot during Oliver’s rampage through the bus station.” All are out of the hospital and recovering.
