Republicans are doing their best to make sure there is nothing illegal happening with absentee ballots, but they are not having much luck.
Once again, a lawsuit to ensure overseas ballots are legal has failed.
In two suits in two battleground states, judges ruled against more scrutiny on overseas ballots.
Too Close, No Evidence
The suits that were defeated were filed in North Carolina and Michigan, two states that Trump is likely to need if he wants to win this election.
Judge Sima Patel presided over the case in Michigan, ruling that the case was filed far too close to the election.
She wrote, “A challenge could have been raised at any time after 2017, and should have at least been brought earlier in the year leading up to the general election, not 28 days before.”
Judge John Smith presided over the case in North Carolina, dismissing the case because he said there was not enough evidence.
In his ruling, he wrote, “This court has weighed the hypothetical possibility of harm to plaintiffs against the rights of the defendants and finds that on balance the equitable discretion of this court should not be invoked to treat an entire group of citizens differently based upon unsupported and speculative allegations for which there is not even a scintilla of substantive evidence.”
The Harris campaign was obviously happy with the outcome, responding, “Across the country, Republicans are pulling out all the stops to block your vote, but Democrats are fighting back and we are winning.
“No matter how you vote, and especially if you are serving our country overseas, Democrats will stand up for your right to make your voice heard while Republicans try to silence you.
“Once again, we beat Trump in court, and once again, we will beat him at the ballot box in November.”
The GOP is not trying to block anyone from voting. They are, however, trying to make sure that everyone casting a vote is casting a legal vote.
To Democrats, that is oppression… that is the state of the left in this country.
