Dr. Anthony Fauci will very likely continue to be an employee of the US National Institute of Health as Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). However, if Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has her way, he will no longer be a PAID employee, and Greene’s unorthodox tactic is really starting to pick up some steam among House Republicans.
Wait… What? Is Fauci Going To Work For Free?
Probably not, no. Dr. Fauci is currently the highest-paid employee of the United States of America with $417,608 per year edging out the Presidency by a mere $17,608 per annum (chump change for those folks). The fact of the matter is: without the cooperation of the White House and the Senate, the House of Representatives cannot actually terminate the employment of Dr. Fauci or any other Senior officials of the Executive branch. However, through their budgetary powers, the House can terminate the living hell out of his salary.
According to Newsweek,
“Greene has been a vocal critic of Fauci and introduced the Fire Fauci Act in May, a bill that would reduce his salary to $0. The release of thousands of pages of Fauci’s emails only increased Republican criticism of the infectious disease expert and in the week since they were published, five more House Republicans signed onto Greene’s bill.
Before the emails were released, Greene had four co-sponsors for the Fire Fauci Act. On Tuesday, that number increased to nine when Reps. Mo Brooks and Greg Steube agreed to co-sponsor the bill.
Reps. Buddy Carter, Bob Good, and Matt Gaetz became co-sponsors on Friday.”
Movements In The Senate Begin As Well
Republican Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Tom Cotton (R-AR) are now calling upon the Biden Administration to fire Dr. Fauci or that he should resign.
Fox News wrote,
“Fauci needs to step down,”
Blackburn told Fox News in an interview this week. “And the Biden Administration should ask him to step away from his post.”
Senator Rubio said, “For 16 months we have seen Dr. Fauci withhold information, dismiss plausible explanations of COVID’s origin, and outright lie to Congress, He is supposed to be a fact-based public health official, not a pundit distorting the truth to conform with his personal judgment.” adding,
“If President Biden is committed to science and finding the truth about COVID, he needs to fire Fauci.”
Sen. Cotton told reporters, “Dr. Fauci has lost the confidence of the American people with his repeated evasions, misdirection, and politicized statements,” Cotton said. “If he won’t resign, Joe Biden should fire him.”
As of this writing, a dozen Republican Members of Congress have co-sponsored the Fire Fauci Act.
The White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was asked about the prospect of firing Dr. Fauci on June 4th “Can you imagine any circumstance where President Biden would ever fire him?” She responded sharply, “No.”
At this point, the Democrats in Congress and the Biden-Harris regime have sunken so much political capital and any credibility with their leftist base in defending Dr. Fauci and lionizing him in the media, that despite the preponderance of evidence his released emails have shown of his ties to EcoAlliance and gain of function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, they can no more fire him, than fire Biden. In their mad dash to defend “America’s Doctor” they have created in him a massive political vulnerability.
In an MSNBC Interview flailing to defend himself for the indefensible, Dr. Fauci had his very own “I AM THE SENATE” moment, not unlike the Emperor from Star Wars. When he said
“ATTACKS ON ME QUITE FRANKLY, ARE ATTACKS ON SCIENCE”
This makes Fauci more dangerous than ever. That kind of commentary suggests an almost megalomaniacal delusion of his own infallibility, as he claims some sort of ‘throne of science’ akin to the Pope’s throne of St. Peter in the Vatican. He is unassailable, an attack on him is an attack on the church itself.
