“If the FBI isn’t extraordinarily transparent,” Charles Grassley thundered, “they will have sealed their own fate.” When the Iowa Senator heard about the big raid on former President Donald Trump’s Mar-A-Lago estate in Florida, he was quick to warn Christopher Wray to expect a heavy interrogation about it. Real soon. Grassley still has smoke coming out of his ears after learning Wray bailed out of the big Senate hearing early on Thursday, just to go fishing.
FBI raid looks suspicious
The FBI has already been accused of improperly targeting conservatives while giving Democrats a free pass. When Charles Grassley interrogated Bureau Director Christopher Wray on that very subject, Wray managed to keep from saying anything specific right up until he ran out of time. He had to leave early and catch a plane.
Grassley practically begged the official for another 20 minutes, which shouldn’t be hard to arrange because it was Wray’s own personal plane. Nope, sorry, Chris dodged. It was something so important he really had to go. The world soon learned his plane was tracked flying to the quiet little mountain lake where he has a family cottage. His pressing engagement was a long weekend of fishing.
While Chris Wray was angling for trout, his beloved FBI special agents were on a fishing expedition of their own. A quest for some documents which Donald Trump is allegedly hiding from the National Archives. What they aren’t busy doing is raiding Hunter Biden’s pad for evidence of political influence peddling which might have compromised his father with China.

Funny how he seems to be out for ice cream, as Xi Jinping makes the first moves of the invasion everyone else saw coming.
What Grassley actually wrote in a statement was “last night’s raid on the home of a former U.S. president without explanation will only further erode confidence in the FBI and the Justice Department.”
“If the FBI isn’t extraordinarily transparent about its justification for yesterday’s actions and committed to rooting out political bias that has infected their most sensitive investigations, they will have sealed their own fate.” He couldn’t have spelled it out any clearer. Whether it will do any good is a different story.
Holy shit great find @mirandadevine "The luxury FBI Gulfstream Wray uses was recorded on Flightradar24 making the one hour and 12 minute flight later that afternoon to bucolic Saranac Lake in the Adirondacks, which happens to be a favorite summer destination since his childhood."

Howling for the head of Merrick Garland
While Senator Grassley focused his ire on the FBI, other conservatives inside the beltway are taking their anger out on the head of the Just Us department, Merrick Garland.
What the Hill calls a “pile of Republican lawmakers” are demanding the AG “release justification for the search.”
Transparency brings accountability & if the FBI & DOJ aren’t transparent about raiding a former presidents home they risk further damaging their credibility I’ve already raised issues from whistleblowers abt political bias in investigations so we’ve got a right 2b skeptical

On Tuesday, Grassley tapped out a message on Twitter. “Transparency brings accountability & if the FBI & DOJ aren’t transparent about raiding a former presidents home they risk further damaging their credibility I’ve already raised issues from whistleblowers abt political bias in investigations so we’ve got a right 2b skeptical.”
All that’s really known about the search itself is that it involved “30 to 40” people. A “handful” were dressed in suits while “most wore T-shirts, cargo pants, masks and gloves. “They brought in 10 to 15 vehicles including a box truck.”
Rumors say they spent way too much time searching Melania’s underwear drawer. “FBI agents searched a bedroom, a storage area and an office.” The storage area is reportedly the “basement.” When they did, “they broke through the lock.“
