The FBI hit the panic button hard, when Donald Trump tweeted out that Barack Obama had his wires tapped. Michael Sussmann’s lawyers just kicked a hornet’s nest into the lap of the Deep State. “What did you know and when did you know it?” That’s a question that the bureau has a hard time trying to answer.
FBI doing damage control
Top acting and former FBI officials are horrified to learn that Michael Sussmann’s defense team produced notes from some of their private meetings, to be used when John Durham grills their client in court. Back in 2017, big names in the Just-us department and the Federal Bureau of Instigation wrote some reminder notes, which are coming back to haunt Hillary Clinton now.
What they show, pundits note, is that “the federal law enforcement agency seemingly panicked and went to great lengths to cover up its spying on then-candidate Donald Trump.” The FBI has some ‘splainin to do.
Sussmann, at the time, was a high-ranking Hillary Clinton operative. He’s on trial for lying to the bureau about his clients. He thought he was hiding Hillary. It was such a thinly veiled attempt that everyone saw through it, even back then.
Dated March 6, 2017, the official FBI notes prove that the meeting in question happened only two days after Trump tweeted, “Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my ‘wires tapped’ in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!”
Leadership, it’s been written “was seemingly alarmed by the tweet.”
What’s behind the tweets?
Mary McCord was carrying DOJ business cards when she scribbled, during the conclave, that the feds were “trying to determine what is behind POTUS tweets.”
Sussmann lawyers threw the notes on the table “because FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe wrote that Sussmann provided allegations of Trump’s collusion with Russia as a lawyer ‘on behalf of his client.’ Sussmann told the FBI six months before this that he was simply acting as a good Samaritan.”
That proves, John Durham smirks, that by the beginning of March in 2017, “the FBI knew that the Trump-Russia collusion claims were almost certainly false.”
That didn’t stop them from launching a politically motivated investigation, though. “The notes show that the FBI doubled down on its collusion claims and kept key facts hidden from DOJ officials at the meeting.”
You might be interested to learn that Andy McCabe jotted down that the fraudulently obtained FISA warrant against Carter Page was “fruitful.” The FBI doesn’t really want you to hear that part of the story.
They want you focused on the court’s denial of Durham’s attempts to use “evidence of Sussmann’s alleged ‘joint venture‘ with the Clinton campaign and other Democratic operatives,” when the trial starts. They don’t seem to realize that the truth has a way of coming out and there are other ways to bring evidence in through the back door once the show gets moving in open court.
