Washington D.C.’s Deputy Mayor Chris Geldart was arrested for assault and battery in the early afternoon on October 1. Not only is he in hot water for putting his hands on Gold’s Gym trainer Dustin Woodward, he may not properly be living in the district.
Deputy mayor goes berserk
Chris Geldart is supposed to be the district’s deputy mayor in charge of public safety and justice. He’s a Democrat so that puts him above justice, he believed until he was arrested.
He endangered the safety of one public member in the parking lot at Gold’s Gym and the arm of the law was long enough to drag him back to Earth. He’s been suspended from his duties.
It all started around 12:25 p.m. on Saturday, October 1 at the Gold’s Gym franchise in Arlington. According to trainer Dustin Woodward, with backup from surveillance video, Geldart began by assaulting a car.
The deputy mayor banged the car parked beside him in the lot with his door and allegedly “scratched” it. The driver was Woodward and he saw it happen. He knew his girlfriend was going to be angry when she saw the damage so approached hizzoner.
When the deputy mayor refused to acknowledge damaging the other car, things started to escalate. To the point, police note, “where Woodward says Geldart was cursing and screaming, which caused him to turn around and tell Geldart to ‘shut up.’”
That’s when the roid rage peaked. “Geldart got in Woodward’s face in a confrontational style. Later in the video, the two men are chest-to-chest and Woodward says Geldart put his hands on his throat before he was able to push him away.”
Abuse of power
“It’s a little frustrating, right?” Woodward observes “because he’s way too big to be trying to be a bully, especially with his position. Something should be done. It’s not okay.” He filled press in on the lore regarding their trusted deputy mayor. He’s into power self-abuse.
“We’ve been dealing with him for a while at Gold’s. Multiple locations actually, that’s how we even figured out who he was. So, something needs to be done because you can’t just abuse your power like that. That’s pretty frustrating on my end.”
Mayor Muriel Bowser ran from the microphones as Fox tried to quiz her about whether she thought that was “acceptable behavior from someone on her leadership team?” She wouldn’t even look at the video which proves she already saw it.

Her office did release a statement though. “We take any accusations seriously and are reviewing the matter. While it is under review, Deputy Mayor Geldart is on leave.”
After news crews tried to track the deputy mayor himself down for comment, it turned out that there is another story to write on Geldart. By law, city officials are required to live in the district. Fox managed to get him to answer the door at his out-of-district residence.
While keeping an apartment in the district, just for show and to entertain the ladies, he really lives with his wife and kids in Falls Church, Virginia. Local outlets are making a big deal about that.
