It sounds like the 2024 election, win or lose, will be Donald Trump’s last run for office.
Trump was recently asked if he would run again in 2028, at the age of 82, if he loses this election.
Trump stated that was going to be it, and I am sure he is just looking forward to golf and playing with the grandkids.
Time to Call It Quits
Trump’s diehard supporters would probably love to see him run again in 2028, but Trump sounds ready to move on.
When he was asked about running again if Harris wins, he responded, “No, I don’t. I think … that will be it. I don’t see that at all.
“Hopefully, we’re gonna be successful.”
While I cannot blame Trump, and hope he wins, this is going to leave a rather large power gap atop the party if Trump loses.
This would result in two consecutive losses for Trump and a handful of key losses by Trump-backed MAGA candidates in key battleground states.
The party is going to have some hard choices to make going forward, especially since Trump’s people are now running the RNC.
This race is far from over, however, as Trump continues to trend in the right direction.
Nationally, Harri’s lead is down to 2.6%, which is enough for her to win the popular vote but puts the electoral vote at risk.
In the key Blue Wall states, Harris is still leading in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, but Trump is closing the gap.
At this point, PA and WI appear to be a coinflip, but Trump still has some work to do in MI to beat her.
Make no mistake about it, if Harris wins these three states, she probably wins, so expect to see Trump making a lot of appearances in these states to move those undecided voters over to his side.
This is going to be Trump’s last stand, so let’s make sure he goes out a winner.
