Nine people are confirmed dead including the killer. Dozens more are reported injured following the latest mass shooting incident which happened in Indianapolis, Indiana. Details about motivations won’t be made public for some time but you can bet liberals will use this as yet another excuse to round up guns. Families of FedEx workers at the unit are going frantic trying to find out the status of their loved ones.
Nine dead at Indianapolis FedEx
Police have confirmed that the killer claimed eight victims before taking his own life as the cops rolled up. Dozens of others were wounded by the gunfire or otherwise injured.
Families of the involved staff have been herded into a nearby Holiday Inn Express where they wait to hear status reports on whether their loved ones are dead, injured, or just fine. None of the employees were allowed to carry their phone in the facility, so everyone is in the dark.
Police closed off Interstate 70 in both directions near the airport facility which has traffic snarled and motorists are advised to use an alternate route. Meanwhile, anxious families are pacing around the Holiday Inn Express waiting for updated status reports. One woman doesn’t know if her brother is dead or alive.
“No one knows anything. We go over first to FedEx and then they send us over to the Marriott, and then we come over here and no one knows anything, they just basically tell us to wait and the buses are gonna come. It’s been about an hour and a half, if not longer. We don’t know anything.”
Reporters did manage to learn that police were dispatched to the FedEx facility at around 11:00 p.m. Thursday, local time, following reports “shots had been fired.”
Metro police confirmed eight victims were dead at the scene of apparent gunshot wounds. The gunman was on the ground too, “after taking his own life when police arrived.” That’s why police “don’t feel there is an active threat to the community at this time.”

A Level 1 mass casualty
Because of the large number of dead and wounded, the scene has reportedly been declared a “mass causality, Level 1.” Police note they “have multiple people with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. We have others that have been transported to various hospitals throughout the area.”
Unofficially, at least 20 people were “treated” for injuries directly related to the shooting while a total of around “60 people were evaluated for injuries.” Ten of the most severe cases were transported to the hospital.
The facility involved is the company’s second largest “hub” in the world and employs over 4500 people just at the one location. Some of the victims who escaped harm related their stories to the press.
Timothy Boillat said he didn’t see anyone get shot but claimed he saw a “dead body” in the parking lot. Gunfire “started off in the parking lot then it went into the building and back into the parking lot. People were driving away but then he started shooting at the cars driving away.”
Jeremiah Miller didn’t want to end up dead so he got out fast. When he looked out the entrance door and saw “a man with a submachine gun of some sort, an automatic rifle, and he was firing in the open… I immediately ducked down and got scared and my friend’s mother, she came in and told us to get inside the car.”
According to FedEx, “Safety is our top priority, and our thoughts are with all those who are affected. We are working to gather more information and are co-operating with investigating authorities.”
