Democratic New Mexico Judge Joel Cano knew he could kiss his career goodbye the moment Homeland Security arrested Cristhian Ortega-Lopez. The “suspected TdA gang member” was living in his casita at the time. With guns and two of his amigos. The New Mexico Supreme Court permanently banned him from the bench.
Judge banned for life
Judge Joel Cano, a loyally registered Democrat, was doing his best to provide sanctuary for some poor unfortunate migrants. He let three young undocumented Venezuelans live in the guest house on his New Mexico property.
Tren de Aragua soldier Cristhian Ortega-Lopez was arrested there in February and Cano resigned by March.
The discipline handed down Wednesday, April 23, declares Cano “can never hold a judicial office again, be a candidate for a judicial office, and cannot exercise any judicial authority in the state.”
He’ll be moving to another liberal jurisdiction soon. The ruling even prohibits the former judge “from officiating at weddings in the state.”
ICE officials had no problem at all linking Cristhian Ortega-Lopez up with the Tren de Aragua terrorists.
As they were going through his social media posts to gather evidence they saw some interesting snapshots. Including one where the former judge has his arm around the bandito’s shoulder.
Hearing canceled
When the New Mexico Supreme Court handed down the discipline, it made further legal procedures a moot point. The disciplinary hearings scheduled for Thursday were canceled.
According to court documents, investigators found several images online. Some showed the border jumping criminal eating dinner with the judge and his family.
While posing for Christmas pictures this past December, Judge Cano is shown wearing his signature “cowboy hat and a bolo tie.”
Ortega-Lopez, meanwhile, “is wearing a classic New York Yankees baseball cap and a collared shirt that conceals his neck tattoos.”
When those in charge of enforcing the law help criminals break it the barbarians have control. What we’re left with is lawless anarchy and vigilante justice.
Conservative Americans are glad to see that even a liberal state like New Mexico can see that it’s not good for a judge to thumb their nose at immigration law.
