New York City Mayor Eric Adams stood up against the calls of Donald Trump being a fascist when his fellow party members were blasting him for allowing Trump to hold a rally in New York.
After the rally took place, Adams changed his tune.
This was all brought on by jokes told by roast-insult comic Tony Hinchcliffe.
Bad Words
I am not sure who decided that Hinchcliffe would be a good warm up comic for this rally, but they should be fired.
A lot of his routine was aimed at the Latino community, but not in a good way.
And everyone understands these are jokes, but you have to read the room and understand that the media will blow something like this up to paint Trump as a racist.
So, when Hinchcliffe called Puerto Rico a floating island of garbage, everyone lost it, including Adams.
Adams had told his party to dial down the rhetoric because Trump was not a Nazi or a fascist, but he was not happy about the jokes told by Hinchcliffe.
Adams posted on X, “The hateful words that were used by some at today’s rally at Madison Square Garden were completely unacceptable.
“No matter who says it, hate is hate and there is no place for it in our city.
“As Americans, we always should stand up against racism, antisemitism, and misogyny.
“Yesterday, ahead of today’s rally, I talked about how we all need to turn down the temperature that fuels hate and violence. I am once again renewing those calls.”
Hinchcliffe did respond to the reaction to his jokes, stating, “These people have no sense of humor. Wild that a vice presidential candidate would take time out of his ‘busy schedule’ to analyze a joke taken out of context to make it seem racist.
“I love Puerto Rico and vacation there. I made fun of everyone… watch the whole set. I’m a comedian Tim… might be time to change your tampon.”
The sad part about all of this is that Hinchcliffe’s jokes were not even funny.
Next time, get a singer.
