For most of the last two years, the GOP-run House has been investigating the business relationship between Hunter and Joe Biden.

Based on a recent request from Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), it sounds like there are more to come.

Johnson issued a formal request to all departments of the Biden administration for all records to be preserved.

Don’t Shred It

There a quite a few things that have happened during this administration that we have questioned.

However, when the GOP went to investigate them, the White House put up blockages and refused to cooperate.

This would include the Afghanistan withdrawal as well as the lawfare against Donald Trump.

Every time a few more layers are peeled away, it seems pretty apparent that the Biden DOJ was communicating with prosecutors in the non-federal cases against Trump.

Johnson wants to make sure all of the information remains intact and does not wind up in a burn bag or in the shredder basket.

In part, he stated, “As we begin preparation for a new Trump Administration and new Congress, we fully expect your cooperation in a smooth transition of power.

“To that end, it is imperative that during the transition you comply with all statutory record retention requirements, including but not limited to the Federal Records Act.

“In addition to compliance with federal record retention laws, we are also expressly directing that all necessary steps be taken to preserve relevant Department documents and communications.”

Johnson concluded, “In the waning days of this Congress, House Committees will continue to seek compliance with many of the subpoenas with which you largely declined to cooperate.

“Likewise, as the 119th Congress begins, the Committees may determine that it is necessary to reissue certain subpoenas as they continue with their oversight efforts.”

One of the many good things about Trump taking back the White House is that we can transparency on the Biden administration now rather than waiting another four or eight years had Harris won.

The one thing the GOP needs to remember, though, is that they need to make the most of having the majority, so the main focus must be passing legislation.
