The Attorney General for Missouri has some great news about the lawsuit he filed against the Wuhan Institute of Virology. It’s been “served.” That’s the legal term for official notification of the proceedings and it’s something that must be done before anything else can happen. Defendants often work real hard to duck the process server. The People’s Republic of China used all the Ninja footwork they could, to tap-dance out of it, but they had to stop moving sometime.
Missouri suit served
Attorney General Eric Schmitt of Missouri is totally determined to “hold the Chinese Communist Party accountable for misleading the world.” He’s convinced they lied “about the transmission of the virus that caused the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Schmitt recently sat down with Epoch Times to give them the news about accomplishing a major milestone. He admits it’s “an arduous process,” and he’s happy to be able to share the great news.
Missouri sued the People’s Republic of China which isn’t like suing your neighbor. There, Schmitt explained “is a process where you have to go through to serve the state, through the Hague Convention, which they objected to, it’s taken us a while to get service.” The labs were just as difficult to tag.
“Same on the non-government actors, like the Wuhan lab, and so we’re getting to a place finally now, we’ve got service.” It’s not, he reminds, “like serving the florist down the street, you know, it’s a different animal.”
What he didn’t say is that the first thing China will send back is a Motion to Dismiss. They’ll say that Missouri is full of fertilizer and should go away, paying their legal fees for the annoyance.
They can file it but that doesn’t mean it will stick. Schmitt gets to answer that back and it will be a U.S. Federal Judge who has the final say. This war is just beginning.
Hold China accountable
Other states followed the lead but Missouri was first. They named every party they could think of, including Wuhan Institute of Virology and the CCP in addition to the People’s Republic as a Nation. He’s out for accountability.
His state “will continue the effort to get accountability from the CCP.” He’s already counting his chickens by talking about a judgement. That’s a long way down the road from here and it will be a battle for every inch.
Missouri will get their accountability he insists. That “is what we’re going to do once we get a judgment here.” They aren’t letting up.
“We filed the lawsuit and here’s what we allege: that they covered this up. They sat on the information, they knew about the human-to-human transmission in November, December, [and] didn’t tell the world about it until the end of January” in 2020.
Beijing took steps early on to halt domestic flights (while not limiting international flights), and hoard and import a massive amount of personal protective equipment before sharing information about the viral outbreak.
“So, the Chinese Communist Party which, of course, runs the People’s Republic of China, is directly responsible for the proliferation of this virus across the world, killing people and upending the economy.” It affected Missouri and he wants his damages back.
