In 1991 then-Senator Joe Biden was asked by PBS if the Clinton WhiteHouse would pursue a war in Haiti to topple the military coup against President Jean-Bertrand Aristide. It is a historical irony that the fate of hundreds of thousands of Haitian people may now be one of the many Albatrosses around Biden’s neck that drags his ill-gotten term occupying the Oval Office down.
In the now-infamous, thirty-year-old PBS clip, Biden said:
“If Haiti, a God awful thing to say, if Haiti just quietly sunk into the Caribbean or rose up 300 feet, it wouldn’t matter a whole lot in terms of our interest.”
In 2021, tens of thousands of people were displaced by that very conflict, and many followed them in the subsequent 2010 earthquake and hurricane-driven diasporas. Both legal residents of the United States and illegal immigrants pressing in through the crippled and ineffective southern border will mean far more than Biden imagined in the long run.
According to The Independent,
“The deportation comes at a time when Haiti is struggling to recover from the 7 July assassination of President Jovenel Moise and a 7.2-magnitude earthquake in mid-August that killed more than 2,200 people.”
In Miami, FL the Haitian vote was instrumental in President Donald Trump’s 2016 election victory. And in 2022, they may help reduce the Democrat-Socialist majority in Congress to ashes.
The Road To Del Rio Made Biden Eat His Words In More Ways Than One
The Biden-Harris regime has been treading water on border security from the moment they took power and has taken little to no measurable action to protect Americans from illegal immigrants, that was until much to Democrats dismay, Biden’s government deported the over fourteen thousand illegal immigrants from the Del Rio “Biden-ville”.
The decision has caused a major divide within the Democratic party and has left many Americans wondering why Biden has singled out the Haitians over any other illegal immigrants that he has shown no interest in stopping at the border or deporting in any reasonable numbers. It is a situation that some see as advantageous to Kamala Harris who has vociferously differed from Biden.
Harris said: “What I saw depicted about those individuals on horseback, treating human beings the way they were was horrible. I fully support what is happening right now, which is a thorough investigation into what is going on there, but human beings should never be treated that way, and I’m deeply troubled about it.”
