Joe Biden is taking heat for some comments he made prior to the Trump assassination attempt.
Biden, on several occasions, made inflammatory remarks against Trump, including one comment calling for there to be a “bullseye” put on Trump.
When the media asked Biden about this, he denied making inflammatory comments, stating that it was a “mistake.”
Not My Intention
I have to be honest… I was shocked that Lester Holt even called Biden out for comments because Democrats have been throwing dangerous rhetoric at Trump since he came down that escalator in 2015.
It was recently reported that during a fundraising call with donors, Biden had stated that it was time to stop talking about the debate and to put a “bullseye” on Trump.
Holt asked Biden, “Well, let’s talk about the conversation this has started, and it’s really about language, what we say out loud and the consequences of those.
“You called your opponent an existential threat on a call a week ago, you said it’s time to put Trump in the bullseye.
“There’s some dispute about the context. But I think you appreciate –.”
Biden cut him off, responding, “I didn’t say crosshairs, I was talking about focus on — look, the truth of the matter was, what I guess I was talking about at the time was, there was very little focus on Trump’s agenda.”
I think most people would agree that crosshairs and bullseye are pretty much the same thing, but Biden continued, “It was a mistake to use the word — I didn’t say crosshairs. I meant bullseye. I meant focus on him, focus on what he’s doing, focus on his policies, focus on the number of lies he told in the debate.
“Focus — there’s a whole range of things that — look, I’m not the guy that said I want to be a dictator on day one. I’m not the guy that refused to accept the outcome of the election.
“I’m not the guy who said that I wasn’t going to accept the outcome of this election automatically.
“You can’t only love your country when you win. And so, the focus was on what he’s saying. And the idea –.”
That so-called “mistake” by Biden cost an innocent American hero his life, injured two others, and almost took out a former president.
I would have to imagine all the dangerous rhetoric being used by Democrats played a role in inspiring the shooter to go after Trump.
Only, we will never know because the failings of the planning team that day allowed the shooter to get a shot off rather than being apprehended.
We can only hope the shooter left something behind to offer some insight, and if that points to rhetoric from Joe Biden and other Democrats, they should all be prosecuted.
