It would appear that MAGA is starting to wear people out.
Bret Stephens, who was once a proud member of the Never-Trump group, has decided to throw in the towel.
Stephens wrote a piece this week that his movement never caught up to MAGA, so he is ready to give it up.
Time to Surrender
I have never hidden my dislike for certain politicians, but I have always tried to give an honest and fair take on their actions.
I think Senator Fetterman (D-PA) is a great example of that. We all torched him when he was elected, but he is turning out to be a very fair-minded Senator.
Stephens now appears ready to change his tune regarding how he reports on Trump, openly admitting that he was extremely biased and including rhetoric in his reports.
He stated, “It’s been more than nine years since I first denounced Donald Trump as a ‘loudmouth vulgarian appealing to quieter vulgarians.’
“I’ve called myself a Never Trump conservative ever since, even when I agreed with his policies from time to time. I also opposed him throughout his run this year.
“Could his second term be as bad as his most fervent critics fear?
“Yes. Is it time to drop the heavy moralizing and incessant doomsaying that typified so much of the Never Trump movement — and that rendered it politically impotent and frequently obtuse? Yes, please.”
While we appreciate the confession, digest what he just said about the doomsayer nonsense.
He knew they were over-sensationalizing everything, but he kept doing it.
That is now how our media is supposed to operate my friends, and I can guarantee you that Stephens was far from the only one doing this nonsense.
He gets zero credit for coming clean. To me, that post that he made should have resulted in his firing.
