Donald Trump and his surrogates have, from day one, questioned the involvement of the FBI during the January 6 riot.
We knew the FBI had assets on the ground during the event, but there was always a question of how involved they were in encouraging the riot.
A recent report showed that the FBI had 26 operatives on the ground that day, but this gets a bit complicated.
Not All Approved
Of the 26 operatives that were on the ground that day, the report found that only three of them were authorized to be there, with the rest allegedly choosing to attend the riot on their own.
The report found that four of them entered the Capitol that day, another 13 were in areas that were restricted, and they found that nine of them did nothing illegal at all.
That, however, was not the picture that FBI Director Christopher Wray painted when he was on the Hill being questioned about the FBI’s involvement in the rioting.
He stated, “If you’re asking if the violence at the Capitol was part of some operation orchestrated by FBI sources or agents, the answer is no!”
My question would be why the FBI did not tell its other operatives to stay away from the Capitol that day.
I also have to wonder why, when at least four of these people entered the Capitol, and 13 were in restricted areas, why were none of these people arrested and charged.
To that point, Vice President-elect JD Vance reacted on X, posting, “For those keeping score at home, this was labeled a dangerous conspiracy theory months ago.”
The FBI was called out in the report, which found, “[FBI should] ensure that its processes and procedures set forth with clarity the division of responsibilities.
“[And] clearly define a mechanism for making a formal determination whether and what kind of a nationwide intelligence and [informant] canvass is necessary and appropriate under FBI policies.”
I still think there are some things we are not being told here, but I also believe that once Trump takes over, a lot of this will get sorted out, and we will finally learn the truth about how the Department of Justice was weaponized over the last four years.
