Surprise, surprise…
We have another high-profile Democrat lining the pockets of family members for over a decade.
Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) has been paying his sister with campaign funds to the tune of more than $500,000.
Bad Optics
The money was spent on printing, being paid to the Universal Printing Company.
The only way politicians are allowed to give family members money is if they are providing a service and it is competitively priced.
For all we know, the printing prices were in line with other businesses, but that really does not matter in my mind.
The optics on this are horrible, especially when you consider how much money has been funneled to the company.
The company has been around for 26 years, according to its website, but it has only 23 reviews, which I find odd.
Caitlin Sutherland, executive director of Americans for Public Trust stated, “Any time campaign dollars flow from a sitting US Senator to a family member, ethics alarm bells should start ringing.
“Senator Casey is prohibited from using campaign funds to enrich family members, and any semblance of doing so deserves serious scrutiny.”
