Armed agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement made a surprise raid on the home of Rebekah Jones for hacking the state’s emergency alert system to spread liberal propaganda. “They pointed guns at my kids,” the former health official whined on Twitter after she was busted.

Computers seized in the raid

Rebekah Jones worked for the Florida Health Department up until May. She was fired for what they call “insubordination.” She thinks of herself as a whistleblower. Her side of the story is that she was fired for “refusing to comply with officials’ demands to manipulate the state’s Covid-19 numbers.”

The way they see it, she simply refused to accept the correct numbers because they don’t fit her concept of reality. The raid on her home seems to have two versions as well, hers and theirs are a little bit different.

After Jones was released on bail, she went on Twitter to complain, “They pointed a gun in my face. They pointed guns at my kids.” They would not have done that during the raid if she had cooperated.

The police version of the story is that “Ms. Jones refused to come to the door for 20 minutes and hung-up on agents.”

FDLE spokeswoman Gretl Plessinger issued a statement explaining that before they almost had to kick her door in, the agents assigned to the raid made “several attempts and verbal notifications that law enforcement officers were there to serve a legal search warrant.”

They finally convinced Jones to open the door.” As Plessinger reports, “Ms. Jones’ family was upstairs when agents made entry into the home.”

Only for use in emergency

As shown on the video, an agent enters the house “with his gun drawn, calling for her husband to come down the stairs.” The whole target of the raid was her computer equipment.

“FDLE began an investigation November 10, 2020 after receiving a complaint from the Department of Health regarding unauthorized access to a Department of Health messaging system which is part of an emergency alert system, to be used for emergencies only.”

Jones allegedly hacked it to say things like “time to speak up before another 17,000 people are dead,” and “speak out before it’s too late.”

“I don’t know how to do that stuff,” Jones told a local news outlet, insisting that she’s not a hacker. She doesn’t need to be. She just illegally used her old credentials.

They didn’t get a warrant to raid her home until their investigators tracked her down. “someone from Jones’ house was using her email address to illegally gain access to a state-run communications platform.”

Following the raid, officials confirmed that the bogus text message “was sent from the ESF-8 mail account, the state’s emergency support function for public health and medical services, to 1,750 recipients before the software vendor could stop the message from being transmitted further.”

The big problem is that somebody in the IT department has everyone using the same password. “Many people from several agencies, including DOH and Emergency Management” all use the same user name and password. “Once they are no longer associated with ESF-8 they are no longer authorized to access the multi-user group.” Liberals don’t believe that laws actually apply to them, because, these days, they generally don’t.
