Former United Kingdom Health Minister Matt Hancock has found himself in a bit of a pickle.
Hancock was working on a book with journalist Isabel Oakeshott.
As it turns out, Oakeshott leaked some Whatsapp conversations that Hancock had during the height of the pandemic.
The wording is suspect, as if he was holding back on a new variant to purposely scare people.
What Did He Say?
According to the report, Hancock told his aide, “We frighten the pants off everyone with the new strain.”
The aide then responds, “Yep, that’s what will get proper behaviour change.”
Hancock then asks, “When do we deploy the new variant?”
The very next day, Hancock introduced the new variant during Parliament.
After the messages were leaked, Hancock tried to defend himself.
He stated, “There is absolutely no public interest case for this huge breach.
“All the materials for the book have already been made available to the Inquiry, which is the right, and only, place for everything to be considered properly and the right lessons to be learned.
“As we have seen, releasing them in this way gives a partial, biased account to suit an anti-lockdown agenda.”
The whole thing seems rather fishy, and Hancock is clearly not offering up any information on the matter.
