There is a little bit of a controversy brewing over a recent interview given by Biden-appointed Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson.

She recently appeared on “The View,” and she may have crossed the line.

Jackson stated that Harris was giving voters “hope,” which could be deemed an endorsement of Harris, and that is a big problem.

Too Far?

Justices are supposed to be impartial politically, but that is not how I or many others took Jackson’s comments about Harris.

She was asked, among other things, the perception of Harris’ campaign, especially since she would not only be the first woman president but also the first black woman president.

Jackson responded, “I know a little bit about being a first, you know. I think a lot of people were very happy about my appointment in part because they saw it as progress for the country.”

She added, “I’m not only so honored, but whenever we see someone moving into a position where no one has ever been, it gives a lot of people hope.”

Jackson also addressed her dissenting opinion on presidential immunity, stating, “My view as I expressed in my dissent was that we have a criminal justice system in which everyone is subject to the law and if there are special circumstances in any situation, we have recognized some defenses, self-defense, you know, defense of others, there are certain legal situations in which a person can be excused, and maybe there’s a situation in which if someone is president and something happens and they need to use certain authorities or powers, that could be a defense as well.”

Saying that Harris gives people “hope” could easily be interpreted as an endorsement of her campaign.

After all, if Harris represents hope, then what does Donald Trump represent?

This was a mistake by Biden’s justice, and she should have avoided the subject altogether.

We have seen conservative justices get torched in the media for far less, so this is something that I would go after if I were Republicans, if for no other reason than to put Democrats on the defensive heading into the election.
