When Trump was in office, he proposed banning TikTok in the United States.
For the most part, his idea was written off to paranoia over China.
Today, even Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) is admitting that this is something we really need to look at.
Time to Ban It
Schumer was doing the media circuit over the weekend when he finally admitted that Trump got this one right.
Schumer stated, “It’s something that should be looked at.
“We do know there’s Chinese ownership of the company that owns TikTok.
“So, there’s some people in the Commerce Committee that are looking into that right now.
“We’ll see.
“We’ll see where they come out.
The app is owned by China-based ByteDance, which could be compelled by the government to turn over its data on a whim.
This needs to be more than looked at, especially when you consider the most recent actions of the Chinese against this country.
TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew has been called to testify before Congress next month, so let’s hope they put his feet to the fire.
